Gov. Newsom and Project 2025 to take center stage at the DNC
California Governor Attacks Houseless like he’s Project 2025!
Governor Gavin Newsom spoke at the Democratic Convention Tuesday even though he is implementing Project 2025 in California. Democrats talk about stopping Project 2025, but their actions say otherwise.
Newsom attacks the Homeless. Newsom has ruled that California cities must destroy homeless camps. If not, he threatens to pull back state funding for the homeless. This amounts to championing the recent Supreme Court decision that criminalizes the human biological need to sleep. If camps are destroyed, where do people go to live?
For Newsom, Homelessness is public lawlessness
Newsom, the Cicero Institute, and the Fascist Playbook. Newsom is following the fascist playbook developed by the Cicero Institute.1 The Cicero Institute has worked for years to push legislation to criminalize the Unhoused in every state. It focuses on drug abuse as the cause of Unhoused, even though the United Nations itself has proved that evictions and sky-high rents are the major cause.
The Cicero Institute’s plan for Unhoused People is to build new private prisons and to use unelected special prosecutors to imprison the homeless.1 Their crime: “public lawlessness!” Newsom embraces these cruel politics.
Newsom and the “New Generation” of Democrats. The Democratic Party is actively kicking out progressive members such as Cori Bush and marginalizing others such as Ilhan Omar. At the same time, they are showcasing the “new generation” of leaders such as Newsom. The Democratic Party once again reveals that its corporate leadership speaks only for Big Money, Big Tech, Big Oil, Big Pharma, and Big Real Estate.
New Leaders but an Old Program, it is Time for a Change. Grassroots Democrats, indeed the American people, demand solutions that benefit people, not corporations. The split between what we all need and what the Democratic Party does will be on full display at the Democratic Convention this week.
There is a New Way Forward. There is a real solution to end the corporate control of housing, a real answer to climate disaster that constantly creates more displaced people:
“Fascism resorts to violence to control the working class, even controlling our intimate relationships and our personal identities. Society must replace corporations and financial institutions with publicly owned entities, or else they will continue to fasten their fascist grip over every aspect of our lives.” https://lrna.org/program/
