The People’s Response Network to Covid-19

The Chi-RADS tweet on January 14 said it all:

We as young people of the Chicago Public Schooling system have officially allied ourselves across a multitude of this cities public high schools. We have established a coalition that will organize, execute, and define the reimagination of our education.

Chi-RADS understands that it is time to end the regime that says students and the youth do not have a seat at the table. COVID shines a light on this inequality, just as it highlights every inequality in this country.

Chi-RADS openly declares the leadership of queer Black and Brown youth, who brings a deep experience of inequality into leadership. The organization repudiates the pitiful education that capitalism offers up.

Then it calls out the massively incompetent leadership that we have seen so far, in education and across the board in this ongoing disaster. Chi-RADS asserts that “we will fight, we will build and we will love in whatever forms we deem necessary”.

A new generation is drawing a bead on the structures of oppression and racialized capitalism that infect our society just as much as does the virus.
