The fight to keep Oakland’s public schools open and funded has gone on since the early 1980s. Now we face a greatly accelerated corporate attack aimed at closing public schools in low-income, mainly Black and brown, flatland areas, turning those properties over to charter school companies and other real estate ventures.

The recent actions of the County and State Superintendents of Education reveal the powerful forces at work against the needs of our community. In this rapidly developing political situation, the only way to for serious people to win – and not be outmaneuvered – is to study the forces and strategies at work.

Please join us on January 15th as we educate ourselves and discuss a people’s strategy that clearly expresses the needs and wishes of our community.

When you pre-register you will be sent the invitation & Zoom link, and you’ll receive the agenda and brief readings (3 pages) for this educational – register early to receive them before the event! We always share the readings aloud as part of the class, but if you can review them beforehand it will enrich your experience.

See you on the 15th, and bring your ideas!
