JACKSONVILLE MASSACRE:

JACKSONVILLE MASSACRE:

IF YOU WANT CHANGE

IT’S TIME TO THINK OUTSIDE OF THE BOX

On Saturday, August 26, a 21-year-old White man gunned down 3 Black people at a Dollar General store in Jacksonville, Fla. Another massacre in the list of gun-related deaths – large and small – that grows longer every day. This latest attack on the American people was clearly motivated by racism, antisemitism, fear of immigrants, and rage against our changing country. This should be no surprise, especially in Florida, where the state is attempting to cover up the brutality and exploitation of slavery.

The righteous and heartfelt anger against this shooting and the growing fascist offensive is reflected in rallies, sermons, and calls for gun control. Politicians pray for the families, cry, and some even promise laws. Eventually, the shooter will be identified as a “lone wolf”, a mentally deranged person using legally purchased guns. This is the standard script used to divert responsibility away from our society and the political system and economic system they support. In the end, nothing will change.

WE HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE AND WILL SEE IT AGAIN AS LONG AS WE KEEP PLAYING THE SAME GAME!

The American people want to ban assault rifles, but the gun industry can buy enough politicians to block this using the slogan “Protect the Second Amendment and our rights to buy guns”. There is no question that we need better gun control laws. However, perhaps it is time to go after the gun industry itself – not sue them but take them over. If we ran the gun industry, we could protect the rights of Americans to own guns and eliminate assault rifles simply by not making them. The basic issue is who owns the gun industry.

NATIONALIZE THE GUN INDUSTRY AND RUN IT FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND NOT FOR PRIVATE PROFIT. IT IS TIME WE START PLAYING OUR GAME AND NOT THEIRS.
