Defend Students From Attacks: Palestinian Solidarity Protests

Note: The watermelon is a symbol of the Free Palestine movement and its image and emoji is now widely seen on social media. The use of watermelon, which is the same colors as the Palestinian flag, became a protest symbol when flying the flag was banned by the Israeli government in 1967. The Poppy has long been seen in Palestinian art and is a symbol of resilience as it proliferates quickly and covers fields in the Palestinian spring.

Defend Students

against Police Attacks:

Their Fight is our Fight !

Palestinian solidarity protests and encampments are spreading to universities, colleges, and high schools throughout our country. The students are demanding that the US stop funding the Israeli destruction of Gaza and the genocidal attack on the Palestinian people.

Police Attack Students

In response, school administrations and government officials unleashed the police leading to tear gas, beatings, and over 500 arrests. The cover for the police attacks is that the marches, encampments, and rallies were “violent”. The only violence has been from the police!

Democrat and Republican politicians are calling for more repression. Speaking at Columbia University, House Speaker Mike Johnson demanded action from the Biden Administration including mobilizing the National Guard. “We have to bring order to these campuses. We cannot allow this to happen around the country.”  * Biden responded to the call for a ceasefire by giving Israel $14 billion in rockets and bombs.**

Why does the government care?

The students are demanding peace and justice, which the capitalist system cannot deliver. The job of school administrators and government officials is to protect and help the accumulation of private wealth at our expense. They are not afraid that the students will be able to overthrow the current system, they fear the ideas of justice, equality, peace, and the vision of a better future for all. The rapidly developing fascist movement cannot allow demonstrations and resistance.

Why Should We Care?

The students are fighting an immoral war, an immoral government, and an immoral system. A system that attacks American people every day!

US/Israeli War on Palestine

US War on American People

43,000 murdered including 16,000 children

Over 1,000 police murders in past year

Homes, schools, and hospitals were destroyed and millions left homeless

Homelessness growing, schools are decaying and hospitals closing

700,000 People are hungry, facing malnutrition and starvation

Over 44 million hungry including 13 million children

The students are showing us that what we need to survive is no different than the needs of the Palestinian people, and, indeed poor, working, and displaced people throughout the world. This is the message that the government has to suppress and why it sent its police to attack the messengers.

We must protect the message and the messengers!

Let’s talk

The 2020 rebellions showed that today, whether through words or deeds, masses of socially conscious people are declaring themselves revolutionaries in opposition to the system’s poverty, racism, and ecological disaster. The League’s mission is to unite with other revolutionaries around the demands of the working class, especially the class of displaced workers, and show how the solution is a cooperative, communist society, where social wealth is owned in common and distributed according to need. (LRNA Program, https://lrna.org/lrna-program/)

“As people struggle to survive war, climate catastrophe, poverty, and pandemic, a new fascist state form is arising to crush us – the naked rule of corporate power.” ..” The battle is a class struggle because the ruling class is the enemy of humanity and the earth itself.”  from the League Program

The Voices of the League series of articles are intended to encourage a dialogue with developing revolutionaries.  We highlight issues of the day and areas of special interest to new revolutionaries to provide an action guide.  Please make your thoughts known by commenting at the end of the article.
