Artificial Intelligence (AI), along with automation and other digital technologies, is our reality today. In the hands of the capitalists, AI becomes a weapon against the working class. It increasingly eliminates waged labor among all sectors of workers, including manual labor, knowledge labor, construction labor, service labor, and care labor. It undercuts workers as consumers and disrupts the distribution of food, housing, healthcare, education, and more. 

Artificial Intelligence makes it possible to surveil everybody, everywhere. AI is essential for a powerful new generation of military and police weapons. AI technology destroys the earth, nature, water, and rare-earth minerals, and accelerates global warming. AI and digital technology also interrupt face-to-face human relationships for better or worse. AI facilitates the immediate ongoing connectivity, documentation of the horrors of police murder, actions of ICE and the National Guard, of starvation and genocide in Palestine, and of famine in Sudan. And AI is also used to create a totally false reality of the current moment and our history. 

 The dialectic is that Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies can be useful in the hands of the working class, in today’s class war, and in the construction of a cooperative world and the repair of the earth. Artificial Intelligence is still in the early stages of its development, and its future usefulness depends on us.

  1. AI and Robotics is a qualitative leap in the means of production. This means of production is not compatible with capitalism. Capitalism is in crisis and fascism is the ruling class solution to this crisis. Socialism is the only solution. Liberal democracy will not save the working class. The working class is tied to the ruling class through both the republican and democratic parties. This tie must be broken to move forward.
