Are Trump and Musk Fascists?
Elon Musk Bribes Voters. Musk announced that he would award $1 million every day to people who sign his petition in support of “free speech” and assault rifles. Only registered voters in the battleground states can sign the petition and are therefore eligible for the money. This is an open violation of election laws.
Musk, Trump, and “Pay to Play”. Musk donated $75 million to the Trump campaign. In return, Trump offered to hire Musk to make the federal government more “efficient.” Efficiency for Musk means how to get more of our money. Last year Musk took $3 billion in U.S. tax dollars for “nearly 100 different contracts with 17 federal agencies”1. He is the single biggest beneficiary of U.S. government contracts.
Musk, Trump and U.S. Law. Musk’s $1 million bribe to voters and his $75 million “pay to play” bribe to Trump are violations of U.S. laws. Does anyone seriously think that anything will happen to him? Billionaires in the U.S. get the “justice” they pay for. They are outside the law, as is the entire capitalist class that rules this country. At the same time, the hundreds of poor people who will be arrested today face prison, deportation, and injustice.
Musk, Trump and Fascism. The media, members of Trump’s previous administration, and Democrats are calling Trump a fascist. Trump is indeed a fascist. But Musk doesn’t work for Trump. Trump works for Musk and the capitalists who control our country and use private property to enrich themselves. They are the real fascists and Trump is their puppet.
Fascism is more than Trump. Fascism is a political solution for a capitalist system that cannot address our most basic human needs. Fascism is the naked and tyrannical rule of Corporations overall society that abolishes human rights. Fascism can take many forms: genocide, evictions from housing owned by corporations, mass incarceration, criminalization of the homeless, criminalizing women and abortions, victimizing immigrants, and deliberate destruction of healthcare, schools, and the environment.
Jim Crow, America’s Fascist Roots. The U.S. has a long history of fascist policies that were copied all over the world. Jim Crow segregation was a system of fascist state rule that was the model of fascism in Germany and elsewhere.
What lies Ahead? Between the election and the Presidential inauguration on January 20, working people in the US, whether employed or not, will have to continue to fight for the political power we need to secure our basic human needs. This is not a fight to fix the system and return to a kinder, gentler capitalism. The US is in a fight for a future without billionaires, without fascism, and where everyone’s human needs are guaranteed.
