Kamala Harris is Not the Answer
Kamala Harris is being hailed as the savior of working and poor people. We are being urged to donate to her campaign and to get out and vote for her. The focus of the corporate media is on Harris’ relative youth and her chances to stop Trump and stop Project 2025. It is important that revolutionaries do not lose their bearings at this moment. Why Biden had to Go:
Biden had to go not only because he is mentally losing it, but also because no one believed what he was saying. Biden and the corporate Democrats keep telling us that the economy is doing great. But all of us know better and we are angry. So the Democratic Party billionaire donors and their paid politicians pushed Biden out and put Harris in his place. By choosing Harris, the Democrats can focus on who she is while refusing to concretely address our economic needs.
Harris will continue the Robbery of the Working Class:
The RAND Institute, a capitalist think tank, reports that since 1970 the ruling class has stolen $50 trillion from the working class. Averaged out, every year for the past 54 years, $2.5 trillion was taken from the bottom 90% of Americans and given to the wealthiest 1 % of all Americans.1 During that time, the Democratic Party was in power for 24 years and the Republicans for 30 years. There is no difference between the twin parties of capitalism. They may look different, but we are poor because capitalism and the US government are designed to steal our wealth and give it to the rich.
We Need Answers:
Since Obama’s Presidency, the corporate Democrats have refused to talk to the American working and poor people. They dared not attack Trump on most issues, since they too, as paid agents of the capitalists can take advantage of all the corruption, hidden legal benefits, and special tax breaks. Instead, they preach appeasing the open ideological fascists and tell our class that we simply cannot fight.
We need a Plan:
We need a plan to save the earth, ensure justice and peace, and provide housing, food, healthcare, and education for all. We need the Democrats to provide us with a concrete, detailed, and specific program***, not flowery promises and generalities about hope.
We need to Challenge the Democrats:
As the Democrats campaign this election year, they are going to have to speak to their base – those of us who are tired of watching the quality of our lives keep disintegrating. We have the opportunity to challenge them to lay out a real program for our future. Forcing the Democrats to present real solutions is how the working class can begin to develop the political power and unity we need to improve the lives of every single person, not just billionaires.
The League has a Program:
“We have never been here before. Workers being displaced by the market are becoming a revolutionary class because we have no stake in the system and cannot survive without confronting it. We need food, housing, education, and healthcare. We need an opportunity to contribute to society and to help save the planet. We need freedom from police terror, mass incarceration, and gender oppression. We fight for a government that takes care of people first. Ultimately this requires public ownership of the means to create wealth – the land, infrastructure, and technology – and distribution according to need.
