Great TV – Succession and the Debt Ceiling
Succession and the Debt Ceiling – Great TV
Succession had all of the ingredients – money, struggle, tension and characters you love to hate. The producers of the US Debt Ceiling Crisis used the same basic screenplay: trillions of dollars at stake, a fight over how to manage, the US economy on the brink of crashing and burning, with the Republicans and Democrats playing the leading roles.
WAIT, HOLD IT!
Where are the American people? We are missing from the casts of Succession and the US Debt Ceiling Crisis. Why, because we are the victims, it is our money that is being fought over.
THE FINAL EPISODES
Succession ends with the Roy family losing control of their company, but walking off with billions of dollars. The same is true for the end to the saga of the US Debt Ceiling Crisis, as the economy is saved ensuring that the capitalist owners of our country will continue to accumulate wealth.
WHILE SUCCESSION IS FICTION, THE DEBT CEILING AGREEMENT IS A REAL-LIFE DISASTER
We will lose over $40 billion in household income, access to the TANF and SNAP programs will be reduced, the WIC program will fall $615 million short of what is needed to feed new mothers and pregnant women and their young children, the Mountain Valley Pipeline and other environmentally destructive programs will be fast tracked, public education and housing will be in ruins, and …..
IT IS TIME FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE TO WRITE THE SEQUEL
