Why Does Biden Condemn the International Criminal Court Before a Verdict is Reached?
On May 20 the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued applications for the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Minister of Defense Golant. The charges are “war crimes and crimes against humanity” including “starvation of civilians as a method of warfare, murder as a war crime, extermination, and willfully causing great suffering…” In effect, the ICC has accused the Israeli military of genocide against 2.3 million Gazans. The court also charged three Hamas leaders with war crimes in relation to its October 7 attack on Israel.
Israel planned the Famine and Genocide in Gaza
Israel’s plans to collectively punish and eliminate the Palestinian people in Gaza have been clear from the beginning. Israeli Minister of Defense Golant stated, “I have ordered a complete siege on the Gaza Strip. There will be no electricity, no food, no fuel, everything is closed.” “We are fighting human animals and we are acting accordingly.”
In their indictment of Netanyahu and Golant, the ICC stated that “the intentional denial of food or drinking water to civilians as a method of warfare, by depriving them of objects indispensable to their survival, including willfully impeding relief supplies as provided for under the Geneva Conventions, is a crime against humanity.”
Netanyahu and Biden are both Criminals
Netanyahu described the arrest warrants as a “moral outrage of historic proportions.” President Biden declared that the ICC ruling is “outrageous” and that “we will always stand with Israel against threats to its security.” Biden condemns the court before it reaches a verdict because Biden and Secretary of State Blinken are also criminals. The U.S. supplies Israel with weapons to conduct genocide in Gaza and has made no real attempt to stop the starvation and murder.
Democratic Party Convention: Ceasefire now! Arrest Netanyahu and Golant!
The genocide in Gaza is ongoing and must end, and those responsible for it should be brought to justice. Failure to do so will lead to more death and suffering and bring the entire world closer to war. We all need to bring this truth to the Democratic Party Convention in August. How can we stop fascism at home if our head of state is complicit with genocide abroad?
