ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
It is time for the Gun Industry to go
Gunfire broke out at the Kansas City Chief’s Super Bowel parade killing 1 and wounding 21. This was the 49th mass shooting and 81st death this year in the US, and the year is only 46 days old. Gun violence is the leading cause of death for children and teenagers. It needs to end now!
The response to the shooting was the same as we have seen 1000’s of times before. State and federal politicians and “leaders” condemn gun violence and pray for the victims, but do nothing to prevent more deaths. The cowardice of both Democrats and Republicans on this issue is appalling. They propose legislation that will never pass. Why, because they are bought and sold by the gun industry.
But the gun industry does not own us!
The answer is simple: We have to take the profit out of guns. This $21 billion dollar industry makes money off of a social crisis that they create. We are supposed to accept the fact that is completely legal for them to put private profit over the lives of our children!
We can take profit out of guns by taking over, and nationalizing, the gun industry. As the new owners, we can stop the production of assault weapons, seize the assets of the owners, and use the money to compensate gun violence victims.
Most of these massacres are done with hi-tech assault rifles. They are designed to perfect the total destruction of flesh. They are weapons of war. Period. As owners of the companies, we can just stop making them. People can still own guns and the 2nd Amendment is intact.
We are told that regulating corporations is simply out of the question. That is what tobacco companies tell us to defend marketing cigarettes to children. That’s what the oil companies tell us about Global Warming. We will just have to accept it because you the people are not allowed to go against corporations.
We cannot accept this. This is a matter of life and death and we chose life over corporate profit. The ruling capitalist class chooses profits over life, demonstrating it is unfit to rule.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! It is time for the gun industry to go!
