Organization Resolution 2022

Revolutionaries strive to share the vision of the new cooperative society that is possible, even while they battle against the injustices and suffering of the old one. They fight to break every chain – the ideological, political, and organizational connections that bind workers to the system of exploitation and oppression. They work to unify the movement of the revolutionary class, and direct its struggles against its real enemies and toward real solutions.

Times like these call for an organization of revolutionaries inseparably connected to the social movement. The League’s mission is to unite with other revolutionaries around the demands of the working class, especially the class of displaced workers, and show how the solution is a cooperative, communist society, where social wealth is owned in common and distributed according to need. The League strives to make an essential contribution to politicizing the growing movement by introducing the concepts of private property and political power as appropriate to the situation.

League organization is designed to preserve both unity around its mission and flexibility in carrying it out. The League disperses into to every section of society, fighting shoulder to shoulder with people battling for the needs of humanity and the planet, and at the same time fights for clarity and understanding of the future goals of the movement. It organizes political education, public forums and dialogues, and produces and distributes the League press and League media.

Committees of Revolutionaries

Revolutionaries need organizations where they can study strategic questions, assess the social motion, and work alongside others within the movement to develop and carry out political tactics necessary for this revolutionary moment. To do this, the League is organized as a system of committees or collectives of revolutionaries on specific fronts of social struggle, in areas of work, or in geographic areas. A committee on a front of struggle is a collective of revolutionaries working in a clearly defined area of the social movement. The League will grow especially by building committees of revolutionaries while fighting shoulder to shoulder with the forces battling for basic needs on fronts of struggle.

League committees can be made up of both League members and non-members working in specific areas or fronts. They may be local, regional or national. Committees of revolutionaries contribute and fight for new ideas, tactics, plans, and policies that help the movement accomplish its immediate and long-term goals. They study, assess, discuss, educate, recruit, and raise funds within their area of work. They evaluate results and report to the rest of the League, and through League media, to the revolutionary movement.

Revolutionary activity is an ongoing battle for consciousness and direction. Revolutionaries strive to step by step connect people’s initial perceptions of a problem with a vision of the cooperative society that is possible. They create agitation, speeches, articles, and video, and disseminate them through all forms and platforms of popular media. Into every social struggle, they bring the vision of the new society and ideas about how to build the political power necessary to get there.

LRNA as a System of Committees

The League strives to combine democracy in decision-making with authority and accountability for implementing decisions once they are made. The Program and Convention documents are adopted, and national leadership is elected after thorough debate, amendments, and democratic vote by the National Convention. To ensure unity and consistency, the League’s work is then planned and politically organized around the conclusions expressed in those documents. Ongoing collective discussions and assessments, informed by active engagement in frontline battles, continue to keep the organization oriented and unified throughout the twists and turns of the revolutionary process. This allows the League to disperse and integrate into the struggle, respond to changing situations, and still move with common purpose.

The League practices collective decision-making and individual responsibility for carrying out decisions. Every member is a member of a basic League collective (and may collectivize aspects of their work in other collectives as well). Collectives are responsible for agreements and assignments in their realm of authority.

Every member has an equal voice in the collective process of analysis, planning, evaluation, and adjustments to plans to carry out the program. Every member has a responsibility to contribute to the decisions that affect – and are informed by – their work, experience, and role in carrying out decisions. Individual creativity and initiative are encouraged and required. Every member strives to develop their individual contribution and become able to operate independently when necessary. All committees and collectives strive to be able to function independently in the increasingly dangerous political environment we are experiencing. Constant collective education and evaluation of our activities make this possible. The League values its members as its most important resource.

Rally! Is the political paper of the League of Revolutionaries for a New America. LRNA relies on its collectives and members to write articles for, use, and distribute Rally!

Decisions about how League work is carried out are made with the full input of those most familiar with the activity and the concrete situation. The voice of the minority is respected and encouraged. Once decisions are made by majority vote, they are implemented by all. Political equality in the League means that every member contributes to integrating our revolutionary work with the actual social revolution in real time. Each member participates in elections of League leadership.

The highest League collective is the National Convention, whose delegates are elected by the entire membership. Leading collectives in a region or area are elected by the conventions at the corresponding level. After election, decisions of leading collectives become binding on the jurisdiction that elects them. Leading collectives report to the members in their jurisdictions. The authority and responsibilities of each body are defined and each body operates within the specifically defined extent of its responsibility. Those who are responsible to implement a collective decision have the authority to determine how to do it.

Once decisions are made, a division of labor is necessary to make sure they are carried out. Each collective has the organizational authority to ensure the implementation of its decisions and to evaluate and make regular, timely reports on its activities. The League strives to act as a network within the social revolution, allowing for information circulation and analysis, to ensure that League understanding and policy reflect the real world and change as the world changes.

American society is at an historic turning point. We invite all revolutionaries who agree with our program and are looking for collectivity and a place to contribute and develop strategy to join the League and build for the future.
