Enough is Enough: It is Time for the Gun Industry to Go!
Mass Murder at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas: On October 1, 2017, a single shooter fires over 1,000 rounds in 10 minutes killing 60 and wounding 400+. The deadliest mass shooting in American history. The shooter used automatic rifles equipped with bump stocks.
Rifles equipped with bump stocks can fire between 400 and 800 rounds per minute.
ATF Bans Bump Stocks: In 2018, the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives banned bump stocks determining that bump stock-equipped rifles are machine guns. The private ownership of a machine gun is illegal.
SCOTUS Allows Bump Stocks: On June 14, the corrupt, pro-fascist SCOTUS made bump stocks legal again. Ignoring the death and destruction caused by bump stocks, Justice Clarence Thomas concentrated on how many times a shooter must pull a trigger to fire 1,000 rounds – once with a machine gun, a few times with a bump stock-equipped rifle. Using this difference, he gave the American people the finger declaring that bump stock-equipped rifles are not machine guns, and are, therefore, legal.
SCOTUS Follows the Project 2025 Playbook: It is easy to blame the decision on gun-loving, Second Amendment-supporting, NRA-bribed justices, which is partially true. But Project 2025 is at the heart of the decision. Project 2025’s aim is much bigger: to systematically dismantle the federal government. The goal is the open and legal rape by corporations of America, its people, its economy, and its environment.
Project 2025 and Bump Stocks: While this ruling dealt with one gun law and one agency, the ruling will have a broader impact. The head of the group promoting bump stocks stated, “This case underscores that agencies cannot regulate beyond the statutory authorization. I think that this case will reverberate well outside the ATF context.”1
Who will Stop Mass Shootings? There have been 225 mass shootings in the US this year leaving 318 dead and 836 wounded. The SCOTUS decision shows us that we cannot rely on the courts. We already know that we cannot rely on the Democratic or Republican parties. It is up to all of us to end gun violence.
The Answer is Simple: We have to take the profit out of guns. This $30 billion dollar industry makes money off of a social crisis they created. We are supposed to accept the fact that is completely legal for them to put private profit over the lives of our children!
We can take profit out of guns by taking over, and nationalizing, the gun industry. As the new owners, we can stop the production of assault weapons, seize the assets of the owners, and use the money to compensate gun violence victims.
We are told that regulating corporations is simply out of the question. That is what tobacco companies tell us to defend marketing cigarettes to children. That’s what the oil companies tell us about Global Warming. We will just have to accept it because you the people are not allowed to go against corporations.
We cannot accept this. This is a matter of life and death and we chose life over corporate profit.
