An Attack on Transgender People is an Attack on US All!
WTF is going on here???
States are banning gender-affirming health care for minors but refuse to take steps to limit gun violence! For all the talk of “protecting the children,” ZERO children have died from puberty blockers. And there have been 160 school shootings since 2018! Firearm-related injuries became the leading cause of death among children 1 to 19 in 2020.
The ACLU reports 451 Anti-LGBTQ+ bills have been introduced this year in the U.S. and it is only April! Tennessee, Indiana and several other states have passed bills banning gender-affirming care for minors, but decline to act on gun violence. Now Missouri is banning gender affirming health care. The official justification calls it “an effort to protect children”. Anti-trans laws are framed as “parents’ rights” but they attack the rights of the children.
Today’s onslaught of anti-LGBTQ and anti-trans laws have never been about the children. It’s always been about scapegoating trans people, people who are different, stigmatizing them, criminalizing their existence and denying them health care.
American fascists tell us to hate each other for our differences. They have a long list of people we are supposed to fear and hate – African Americans, Mexicans, women, immigrants, LGBTQ+. But society can’t survive based on hate. We have to work together as human beings, based on what we have and need in common.
The game plan is to distract us from the failures of white, straight, cisgender, temporarily able-bodied, financial stable, Christian capitalist government. Yes, it IS failure when over 40% of Americans fight the poverty that this government refuses to do anything about. We are told to scapegoat each other, which means we cannot oppose the corporate political agenda that openly loots this country and destroys the environment.
Rising against these lies is the power of the youth, who are pushing forward for a different vision of America. It is a vision that is multiracial, multiethnic, multilingual, multicultural, multireligious. Everything for everybody! We refuse to be divided and conquered!
Doctors, nurses, pediatricians, psychologists and their organizations overwhelmingly support gender-affirming care. Yet some states are setting up websites for snitching on medical providers who help Trans people are victims of expanding vigilante violence that has been used to attack those who assist people wanting abortions. This is organized terror is directed against our marginalized communities, but it goes way beyond.
An attack on Transgender people is an attack on us all! Everything for Everybody means everyone can feel safe, everyone can have adequate medical care, food, housing and education and the right to live well. How can we get there?

Victory cannot be won without class unity based on exposure and rejection of the white supremacy and hetero-patriarchy so deeply rooted in the structure of the American economy, politics, and history. In the practical struggle, people are uniting from below. The growing equality of misery is forming them into a social force. We rely on this developing practical unity to build conscious political understanding. Victory cannot be won until we gain the political power necessary to defeat fascism and organize the cooperative society we need.

I am very happy to see the article on the attack on Trans people as an attack on us all. The legal and organizational tools used to identify, terrify and harm LGBTQIA people are tools used against anyone who stands against the rising tide of fascism. Kudos!
