COP 28 - Climate Change Conference: Sabotaged by Fossil Fuel Industry

COP 28 – Climate Change Conference

Sabotaged by Fossil Fuel Industry

Amid the ongoing United Nation’s annual climate conference known as “COP 28,” President Al Jabar stated: “There is no science … that says that the phase-out of fossil fuel is going to achieve 1.5 oC (the Paris Agreement climate target).” This infuriated the gathered scientists who believe Al Jabar’s Chief Executive Officer status with the oil company Adnoc is a conflict of interest. Why is an oil company executive presiding over a climate change conference?

It’s true that “fossil fuels don’t cause climate change, people do.” But this begs the question why would people knowingly destroy the planet’s ecosystem? The answer is, of course, because they want to keep making billions in profit and to continue with government subsidies and protections. Indeed, the U.S. government has gone to war to protect oil company profits.

The best way to regulate fossil fuel consumption is to nationalize the energy sector and make it all public property. Then set policies that saves humanity from catastrophic climate change.

The fossil fuel companies in the U.S. are privately held. Americans have the right to demand that we take control, nationalize, the energy industry, and then replace fossil fuels with sustainable wind, solar, and biopower. Perhaps this is the reason fossil fuel industry owners supported Trump’s first campaign for President, and Trump is again wooing them with his “climate change denial” and his vow to “drill, drill, drill”. But fossil fuel industry owners work both sides of the political aisle. In fact, Biden has authorized more energy leases than Trump. In the 2024 election campaign, many energy executives are donating to the Democratic Party, who are more discrete practitioners of climate change denial. The fossil fuel industry is non-partisan in their determination to protect their wealth at the expense of the planet’s ecosystem, our beautiful mother earth. For this election cycle, however,

Nationalize the energy industry, it is the only way to save the earth.

Let’s talk.

“Our country and the world stand at a crossroads. Humanity has the potential for economic security and abundance. A community of the people, by the people, and for the people, where children can grow in peace, is possible as never before. Or–if we do nothing—we face increasingly unlivable conditions caused by private ownership of the wealth that human labor has created. The purpose of the League of Revolutionaries for a New America is to build consciousness and unity among the most impacted workers, to be able to secure the needs of humanity, and avoid the destitution and environmental disaster threatening life on our planet as we know it.”
