Gaza and US: Time to Turn Protest into Social Transformation

Time to Turn Protest into Social Transformation

The cynical weaponization of the Holocaust, including branding Palestinians as Nazis, has little efficacy when you carry out a live-streamed genocide against 2.3 million people trapped in a concentration camp. The Chris Hedges Report, 17 December 2023

Protest against genocide in Gaza is growing and broadly supported by Americans, especially those aged 35 and under. Protestors are challenging the legitimacy of US military aid to Israel and the Biden administration’s weak-kneed calls to respect the life of Gaza’s noncombatants. Israel has shown no inclination to respect life in Gaza, instead ordering its troops to shoot anything that moves, ironically resulting in the death of three escaped Israeli hostages. All three were shot and killed on December 15 by an Israeli soldier as they waved white flags of surrender. The hypocrisy of the US government is self-evident when its calls for Israeli restraint were issued in the same week it approved the sale to Israel of 14,000 rounds of tank shells.

The US government’s support for genocide in Gaza and police murders at home are connected. George Floyd was murdered by a Minneapolis police officer on May 25, 2020. There were 1,158 other victims of police violence that year, 1,147 in 2021, 1,197 in 2022, and 1,141 and counting in 2023. George Floyd’s murder sparked a tremendous outpouring of protest against police violence but failed to stop the bloodshed.

It’s time to start turning our protest into a movement for social transformation. A genocidal ruling class is destined for the dustbin of history and is no longer fit to rule. We are the majority and possess the technological means to create permanent peace and prosperity for all.

Let’s talk.

“Our country and the world stand at a crossroads. Humanity has the potential for economic security and abundance. A community of the people, by the people, and for the people, where children can grow in peace, is possible as never before. Or–if we do nothing—we face increasingly unlivable conditions caused by private ownership of the wealth that human labor has created. The purpose of the League of Revolutionaries for a New America is to build consciousness and unity among the most impacted workers, to be able to secure the needs of humanity, and avoid the destitution and environmental disaster threatening life on our planet as we know it.”
